301 - Chuck Vs. the Pink Slip
Chuck Runs out in the Street at CIA Training Facility
After a recap of the end of Season 2, six months later, Chuck is in training in Prague. After a fight, he runs out into the street of the CIA facility. The scene was filmed on the European Street of Universal Studios Hollywood, one of a few times scenes were filmed at Universal.
Chuck Tries to Escape by Ziplining
Chuck escapes into the street and Beckman orders him to climb the stairs of a nearby building, to the roof to escape by ziplining to a nearby building. The building is located on the European St at Universal Studios.
Notice the railings are wooden in the episode and iron normally.
Chuck first climbs up the stairs, then onto the roof where he is unable to zipline and the excercise comes to a halt.
Sarah Swimming in Pool
We see in flashback, Chuck has failed his CIA Training and Sarah takes a new assignment. We see her swimming in a pool and then seeing Chuck is calling on the phone and she throws it in the pool.
The pool and the mansion was located at 30553 Morning View Dr in Malibu, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
November 9, 2018, the Woolsey fire swept through the area and 10 bedroom, 11 bath 20,700 sq foot house burned down. The pool, tennis court and surrounding area are still there.
Chuck Goes to Nightclub
Chuck visits Casey down in Castle to plead that he can still be a good spy. Chuck spies a folder on the desk that appears to be the mission briefing.
The place for the courier drop is a nighclub named El Bucho. The exterior shot was a piece of stock footage from Getty Images. Unfortunately it was too costly to use here. The Living Room was built as an art installation with two 100-foot-tall walls and furniture in Miami. It was created in 2001 by Roberto Behar and Rosario Marquardt. it was torn down in 2007.
The sign and other elements are CG.
Inside the Nightclub
Chuck makes his way into the nightclub after knocking out the Javier and taking his place as the guitar player. The “nightclub” is the Harvey House at the Los Angeles Union Station. It appears the stage area was added as there is no stage in the room normally.
Buy More Loading Dock
The next time we see the Buy More loading dock is when Emmitt encounters Javier and is shot dead. The loading dock will figure into a number of episodes. While it first appeared in episode 214, Best Friend, this is a more complete view of it. The loading dock is located on the Warner Brothers studios and is a “working” loading dock.
Chuck Meets Sarah at Train Station
Sarah makes arrangments with Chuck to meet at the main train station in Prague (Praha hlavní nádraží) while he has been at CIA Training for 6 weeks. The train station used is located at Universal Studios near the European St.
The scene where the trains are shown is, of course, not a studio set. The high speed train appears to be a French National Railway (SNCF) TGV train.
Chuck and Sarah in Mexico
Chuck and Sarah are captured in the Buy More as Sarah is attempting to say goodbye to Chuck. They are taken to a place in Mexico and put in jail cells.
When Chuck flashes and defeats Javier, they escape outside and end up in the bellfry of the Church. The Church is located on the Veluzat Motion Picture Ranch in Santa Clarita, CA. This set was also used briefly in Chuck vs The Nemesis.
302 - Chuck Vs. The Three Words
Karl Kills the Agent with the Gold Briefcase
At the opening of the episode, we see a man running through a wooded area with a gold briefcase. A number of men are chasing him and they shoot him. They approach the man.
They are chasing in the Warner Brothers back lot, in the jungle area we see so many times. The exact location cannot yet be determined.
Karl Stromberg's Mansion
Karl and Carina’s “Engagement” Party is held at Karl’s mansion. The mansion is located at 30553 Morning View Dr in Malibu. It is the same location as the pool where Sarah swims in Pink Slip. The house burned down in the Woolsey fire in November 2018.
Karl Gives Speech from the Staircase
As the reception gets underway, Karl takes to the stairs in the entrance of the mansion to get his speech. This stairway is part of a grandious entrance to his mansion. This entrance and stairs ( there is a twin on the other side are part of the mansion on Morning Dew Dr. It appears the mansion was used for the interior scenes, but no pictures of those rooms are available.
Karl and Carina in the Library
Carine and Karl are in the library while he practiced his speech, leaving the guest still in the Foyer of the house. This library was located in the morning Dew mansion
303 - Chuck Versus the Angel de la Muerte
Costa Gravas Embassy Reception
Devon and Ellie are invited to a reception at the Costa Gravas Embassy. Chuck and Sarah appear to tag along, but they are on a mission. The exterior of the Embassy as shown is very complex green screen/CGI scene. The building shown is the Zunfthaus zur Meisen (The Guild House of Meisen) located in Münsterhof, Zürich, Switzerland.
The reception is actually held in the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown LA at 506 South Grand Ave. They are in the Gold Ballroom
304- Chuck Vs. Operation Awesome
Devon Hanging Off the Building
At the end of the last episode, Sarah informs Chuck that Devon has been captured by The Ring. As the episode opens we see Devon tied to a chair and tangled off a building in downtown LA by a Ring agent, Sydney Prince. While we haven’t yet located the rooftop they are on (Probably on the WB lot), the long shot of the building is The US Bank Tower at 633 West Fifth Street. They removed the top floor sign via CGI.
Devon's Mission to The Crystal Towers
Devon is ordered by Sydney to go to the Crystal Towers in Downtown LA to get his further orders. The building is actually The home of the Creative Artists Agency (CAA), a talent Management company. It is also known as “The Death Star.” if is located at 2000 Avenue of the Stars. The view is the backside of the building with the two CEntury Plaza Towers on each side. The screen capture was brightened to make it more visable. Chances are the rest of the building was used in this episode.
305 - Chuck Vs. First Class
The bulk of the episode that takes place outside of the Buy More and Castle is on a 747 First Class Cabin set and a baggage compartment set. Thos specific sets have not yet been located.
306 - Chuck Vs. The Nacho Sampler
Chuck and Manoosh at the 2 1.2 Amigo Resturant Bar
Manoosh walks up to the bar in the 2 1/2 Amigos Cantina and happens to meet Chuck there. The restuarant set is located on the Warner Brothers set and has bveen used before. It is the same place as Chuck and Sarah’s dinner with Heather and Mark in 204- Chuck vs the Cougars
Manoosh Encounters the Ring Agents
Manoosh tries to escape the Buy More our the back door but encounters tthe Ring agents. A fight ensues. Again, we see the loading dock at Warner Brothers.
307 - Chuck Vs. The Mask
The Museum
In the opening scene, we see Shaw attempting to retrieve a mask out of a museum.The equipment he uses fails and he is trapped in a room where the air is evacuated is an alarm is tripped. Sarah enters the Buy More to tell Chuck that Shaw is in trouble and he needs to go rescue him. The location for the Museum is the American Jewish University – Brandeis-Bardin Campus – House of Book located at 101 Peppertree Lane in Simi Valley CA. It has been used in a number of TV and movie productions.
Chuck enters the Museum and meets Valsalis. The entrance of the school is there and then they are in one of the alcove rooms. The middle one iswhere the mask is on display and where both Shaw and Hannah get trapped.
308 Chuck Vs. The Fake Name
Sarah and Shaw Stakeout Lunch
The team is on a stakeout to capture the assasin. Casey is the sharpshooter on the roof and Sarah is having lunch with Shaw, while he hits on her yet again. The lunch is taking place in the courtyard of the familiar embassy building on the WB lot.
Chuck (Rafe) Meets Gangsters in the Bar
As Chuck assumes Rafe’s identity, he meets with the gangsters, Matty and Scotty in a bar to discuss the hit.
The bar is a famous LA dive bar names Footsie’s located at 2640 N Figueroa St, DTLA.
Sarah Goes to Shaw's Hotel Room
A distraught Sarah visits Shaw in his hotel room in the Hotel Roosevelt. The Hotel Roosevelt is located at 7000 Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood. It is world famous and has been the site of numerous awards shows over the years. It appears that Shaw’s room is on the seventh floor, judging by the open windows, which are highlighted. It is somewhat strange that he is hiding out but has the windows wide open.
Chuck and the Gangsters Across from Hotel
Matty and Scotty take Chuck to the room across from where he will need to shoot the mark (Shaw). The building is the Villa Bonita Apartments, built in 1929 with a rich history. Located at 1817 Hillcrest Rd about 1/4 mile from the hotel. Trouble is, while it is close by, it is located on a kitty-corner from the hotel. The assassins would be shooting past the Kodak Theater, The Chinese Theater and at a very severe angle, not indicated in the scene.
309 - Chuck Vs. The Beard
Ellie and Devon at the Resort Hotel
Ellie and Devon decide they need to get away. So they take what seems like and innocent vacation at a local resort hotel. The hotel is Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach, 21500 Pacific Coast Hwy in Huntington Beach , about 46 miles from Burbank apartment.
Sarah and Shaw check into hotel
As part of the mission, and much to Chuck’s dismay, Sarah and Shaw pose as a married couple in search of The Ring agent. We all know this turns out to be a wild goose chase, meant to take them away from Castle. They appear to have skipped the front desk and we see them in a room at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
