Synopsis
There is an escape from an underground bunker. A man fights his captors as he works his way to freedom.
The Buy More staff are having a competition for who can successfully eat the mystery food in the fridge and the assistant manager position is now open.
The preparation for Halloween has begun and Morgan is missing.
Chuck finds him at the pier playing video games with the man we saw escaping his captors. Chuck flashes, the man is a CIA asset who sees Chuck’s watch, confronts him, and runs.
Chuck finds Sarah in his bedroom when he gets home. She has brought him a fake photo of them together for their cover and he asks for information on Lazlo (runaway agent). For their cover, Chuck asks her to stay awhile so that Ellie and Awesome assume they are having sex. When Chuck comments on the fake photo, Sarah explains that they are a couple but just a different kind of couple.
Casey gets a briefing on Lazlo, who convinces Chuck to help him, and tells him his story. Chuck questions if he can trust his handlers. Lazlo also gives him a graphic design he doodled, as an IOU for the meal Chuck bought him.
Morgan receives growing up lessons from Devon.
After arriving home, Chuck searches the apartment and finds listening bugs everywhere. He confronts Casey about it and Casey ignores Chuck’s concern.
As Lazlo appears in Chuck’s bedroom, asking for help, his handler tells Sarah that Lazlo is dangerous . While Chuck and Lazlo hide out in the Buy More, Lazlo accesses the nuclear missile program and toys with the idea of launching a missile. Chuck now realizes he is in danger and attempts to contact his handlers. Lazlo outsmarts him and they depart the Buy More in a Nerd Herder as Casey, Lazlo’s handler and Sarah pursue. Lazlo drops Chuck from the car and escapes.
Chuck is dressing for his job interview when Sarah arrives to give him a pep talk. The photo she gave him is in the trash because he found a bug on it. At the Buy More, Chuck flashes on the design Lazlo gave him and knows Lazlo is going to bomb the pier. He goes there, confronts Lazlo and defuses the bomb as Casey and Sarah arrive. He saved the day but missed his job interview while Morgan tried to cover for him.
Chuck rushes to the Halloween party to join Morgan as half of the Sandworm and Sarah arrives wearing a Princess Leia outfit supplied by the CIA. She takes the blame with Ellie for Chuck missing his interview and they take a photo together, a real one, to replace the one he threw away.
Points of Interest
- We see Sarah adjust Chuck’s tie for the first time. A habit she repeats many times through the show.
- The photo Sarah gives Chuck that he throws in the trash was a fake photo of them at Comic Con.
- Chuck is called Chuckster by Devon in this episode. Normally only Anna calls him that.
- Sarah’s bullet proof vest, worn throughout the show, and the Sandworm costume, were both made by the same outside contractor (from a discussion we had with Robin Lewis West, costume supervisor on Chuck)
